I had trouble getting to sleep last night and when I was dozing peacefully I was woken four times by Ian who was having some amusing dreams. He was chuckling away. My dream was somewhat creative, incorporating scenes from the novel I am currently reading and real life.
We left the hotel at lunch time, yet again, and took the subway to Tokyo station. A brief stroll found us some lunch which we succeeded with an inspection of the interior of Takashimaya department store. We were quite taken by some chopstick stands and leather chairs but not much else. Along the road I accosted a FedEx courier to try to distinguish where the FedEx office was, using my handy tourist map, but we had a small language barrier and he resorted to handing me his business card and indicating that I could hand it to a taxi driver.
We found the Sony building and spent the next 2 hours inspecting the latest Sony devices. The building itself was fantastic although it didn't look like much on the outside. Each floor was like an open plan mezzanine split level and the entire building seemed to be linked. You just kept walking around and found yourself on a new floor. Sony's latest product, blue-ray disc, caught Ian's eye. I was more than pleased to be gawping at the new plasma screens and LCD displays. Ian was content secretly checking each device for blue tooth capability... I could think of many people that would have loved to switch places with us today and play with all of these toys!
We wandered about some more looking for other points of interest in shops in Ginza but the rain won us over in the end and we retreated to Ikebukuro again, following a wander to the Hama-Rikyu Garden that had closed for the day.
We spent our final hour in the cyber cafe making little progress with our journals and then succumbed to the easiness of a McDonalds dinner before writing our journals, bao playing and packing our backpacks in preparation for our check out tomorrow and our flight to Honolulu.
I'm becoming increasingly concerned about Ian. He breaks into confusing spells of riddles and song and general outbursts of lunacy, on a regular basis. Surely not the result of spending too much time in my soul company?
