We had another wat day, visiting more temples around Chiang Mai and actually going inside them today. They are significantly cooler than the air outside. Of course the heat has been affecting our brains and we have resorted to jokes as funny as 'wat' 'what?' 'what?' 'wat?' 'what?' Tee hee hee, ha ha ha. It's funny to us. Even when we tell the joke at each sighting of a wat and there are over three hundred in Chiang Mai alone. The joke is also told when Ian asks me if I have just seen that big thing back there to which I respond 'wat' and he dives into a detailed explanation thinking I have asked 'what?' before he realises his gullibility as I begin to laugh.
We spent an hour in a cyber cafe reading e-mails and finding that we were unable to ftp so wouldn't be updating our journals in Chiang Mai, as we had hoped.
We found another beautifully elaborate wat with a stunning green roof but I missed the photograph opportunity as I had left my camera in the guest house when we went back to book our tour to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle for tomorrow.
We had a mediocre Italian meal before I retired to my bed to read, feeling the onset of a cold, and Ian returned to the pub we visited yesterday to drink beer and watch the developments in Iraq, before trying to unsuccessfully write his digital images to compact disc.
