We began the day by returning to the camera shop to check that Ian's new digital camera was okay. It turned out that it's fine, we sampled another one of the same model with the guy behind the counter.
We then walked to the Botanic Gardens at the far end of Orchard Road, beyond the British Council and the American and Australian embassies. It was a fair distance and it was a very hot day.
The highlight of the Botanic Gardens was the fee charging National Orchid Gardens. But for a mere SGD 2 it is well worth a visit. There were literally hundreds of variations of these beautiful orchids. A lone squirrel ran about in the gardens. Ian was insistent on filming every different one whereas I was content photographing each one until I ran out of film... So, having run out of film, I enjoyed just looking at the beauties until I saw the mini pineapples and then regretted having run out of film. And then also when I spotted a stunning green lizard leaping from branch to branch. I wish I'd had film for him...
We had a baked potato for lunch as we were on our way back to the hotel, which is the first potato we've had for a while.
Instead of returning straight to the hotel we had another stint in the cyber cafe thus allowing me to complete my uploading to the current date.
For dinner we returned to Nooch, the noodle bar, to sample some more of their dishes. Again, the service and the food was excellent and I can thoroughly recommend Nooch to anyone travelling to Singapore. After dinner we joined the crowds in Borders which seems to turn into a social and reference point after dark. I wanted to buy lots of books. I love books!
We had walked a long way today. My feet told me so.
