Taking advantage of an afternoon off from work I went home to Mum for a spot of lunch and to collect my passport, the postman having disturbed Mum from her deserved lie in requesting another signature for the privilege of receiving my passport from the Kenya High Commission. I am delighted to report that I am now fully authorised by the High Commissions of Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya to enter their countries for a limited period of time within a limited time frame, so the safari commencing on 2 October 2002 is now beginning to feel real!
I paid another visit to the local supermarket to buy some supplies as we were beginning to feel a little like Old Mother Hubbard's dog... It's actually becoming somewhat tricky to stock the cupboards because at this stage in the game we don't want to buy unnecessary consumables which will outlast our time left in England. So, wandering around the shop I started talking to myself trying to figure out if the small amount of toilet roll we had left in the house would last a further fortnight...and could we make do with this and that...the answer of course is yes. In a couple of weeks we won't have the luxuries that we are used to on a daily basis available to us. Let's begin as we mean to go on.
