It had looked as though it had been raining in Townsville when we arrived and it started [again] overnight, a heavy torrential downpour. Which continued through the fire alarm at 3am when people relocated to areas near the fire exits rather than go outside until the Fire Brigade gave the all clear. Annoyingly, having only paid for the first night the cleaner woke us up at 11am to see if we were staying on.
Out of the corner of my eye on the way into town last night I'd read the cinema listings and convinced Helen that Star Trek Nemesis was a good idea. Which I thought it was, anyway. A good Star Trek romp.
Too late to do anything useful by now (4 ish) we trudged back through the light rain. It's hard to say if this is the leftovers from ex-tropical cyclone Beni which flooded a few Queensland states earlier in the week or just some overdue drought relief.
We went for dinner at a little restaurant offering a pasta special. I ordered the Surf'n'Turf, Do you mean the Reef and Beef, sir?
Um, yes. Mustn't get my restaurants mixed up.
To bed with a cheery Hope the alarms are fixed!
to the night porter and off to sleep ready for our 5:30 start.
