It seems that today has been deemed my last day at Tornado. That might sound a bit odd but I resigned over three months ago and have been kept on doing project work ever since. In principle the project work was drawing to a close today and as Helen and Matthew were definitely leaving today I think they decided to throw me in (out?) as well. The first I knew about it was being asked to join everybody else for the obvious goodbye to Helen and Matthew and then hearing that Saranjit and I were going as well.
I don't know how much Saranjit (my co-project worker) knew about it but it certainly came as a surprise to me. It shouldn't have come as a surprise -- I hadn't had a leaving do to date -- but it did. Had I been expecting it I might have come up with a slightly better "speech" for everyone. Ah well. I'll certainly miss the friends I've made at Tornado over the thirty-odd months I've been there from the heights of the dot.com boom to the eventual reverse-into-the-cash-shell by Virtue et al.. Hopefully we'll all keep in touch.
All of which is all well and good but I'll have to be in next week to finish off. I'm obviously having some difficulty letting go.
